Stone Safe Rust Remover

Stone Safe Rust Remover is a powerful, fast-acting powder designed to eliminate rust, iron, and tannin stains from a wide range of hard surfaces. When mixed with water, it forms an effective solution that penetrates and dissolves embedded iron oxidation without harsh scrubbing. Ideal for professional and residential use, this cleaner restores the natural appearance of stained surfaces while allowing precise control of strength and application. Commonly used on natural stone, concrete, masonry, tile, wood, and other mineral-based surfaces, this powder works by chemically breaking down rust discoloration rather than masking it. The concentrated format offers long shelf life, economical use, and customizable dilution for light to heavy staining.

This product is especially effective on limestone, travertine, marble, terrazzo, concrete, and grout, making it a preferred choice for professionals addressing irrigation stains, furniture marks, fertilizer runoff, and embedded metal contamination. For interior or exterior use.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Targets rust and iron-based stains at the source

  • Safer alternative to muriatic or phosphoric acid

  • Minimal impact on calcium-based stone when properly diluted

  • Suitable for interior and exterior applications

  • Powder form allows customizable strength

RECOMMENDED SURFACES:

Travertine, Limestone, Shell Stone, Marble, Concrete, Terrazzo, Grout, Masonry and Wood. Not recommended for polished metals, aluminum, or surfaces sensitive to mild acids without testing.

INSTRUCTIONS:

SURFACE PREPARATION: Always be sure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any dirt, grease, oil, wax, or other contaminants. Read the entire label before using. Use only as directed. Always test on a small piece of material or a small inconspicuous area to determine suitability. Pre-wet the surface with clean water (especially important on porous stone).

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS: Dissolve 8 ounces of oxalic acid powder per gallon of warm water. Stir until fully dissolved. For heavy stains, a stronger solution may be used.

APPLICATION: Apply solution directly to the rust-stained area using an acid-resistant brush, sponge, or low-pressure sprayer. Allow to dwell for 10-20 minutes. You may observe the rust stain lightening or disappearing as the reaction occurs. Lightly scrub with a nylon or natural bristle brush. Avoid wire brushes or abrasive pads. Repeat as necessary. After the treatment, rinse and neutralize. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Neutralize the surface using a mild alkaline solution (baking soda and water or stone-safe neutralizer). Rinse again with water to remove residue.

SAFETY & HANDLING:

Wear gloves, eye protection, and appropriate personal protective equipment.

Avoid skin and eye contact. Do not mix with bleach or other cleaners.

Store in a cool, dry location away from children and pets.

PROFESSIONAL TIP: Oxalic acid removes iron stains, not the source of rust. Always address underlying issues such as: irrigation overspray, metal furniture or fixtures, or fertilizer runoff.
